Simcoe IPA

The most recent batch of beer is complete. It's a straight IPA, simple grain bill, and using Cascade as primary bittering hop, with additions of Simcoe (super Cascade) some some of the bitter, but most of the aroma.

Variety Alpha Amount Form When
US Cascade 6.5 2.0 oz Loose Whole Hops 60 Min From End
US Simcoe 11.1 1.0 oz Loose Whole Hops 30 Min From End
US Simcoe 11.1 2.0 oz Loose Whole Hops 15 Min From End
US Simcoe 11.1 2.0 oz Loose Whole Hops At turn off
US Simcoe 11.1 2.0 oz Loose Whole Hops Dry-Hopped

Ingredient Amount % When
US Pale Ale Malt 22.00 lbs 88.0 % In Mash/Steeped
US Caramel 90L Malt 2.00 lbs 8.0 % In Mash/Steeped
US Victory Malt 1.00 lbs 4.0 % In Mash/Steeped

(60 minute mash at 154. 60 minute boil. Wyeast 1056, California Ale.)

Great aroma -- lot's of grapefruit. Balanced bitterness, and great finish. Bicuity head (Victory Malt is great).
