Melvins -- Singles 1-12
I went to minneapolis last week and blew a ton o' money on cd's. I went
rather crazy in buying releases by minneapolis bands (polara, and my
favorite minneapolis band 'the cows' [can't beat 'sexy pee story']), cause
you can find 'em in the used bin for 5 bucks. But I also bought several
releases by non-minneapolis bands on minneapolis labels.
Hence the Melvins _Singles 1-12_, on AmRep. Absolutely non-essential. No
one should ever buy this record unless they are absolutely crazy for the
Melvins. I _love_ the Melvins, and I think it's shit.
But..... good shit. Totally worthless sessions put together on two cd's,
and you get such greats as "In the Rain" a song sung in the manner of Brit
Pop, or whatever the hell it's called. And you get extended Drum Jams ala
Melvins, with tape loops of live shows running in the back. Several punk
covers (germs, Flipper). Lot's of pure noise, whistling, microcassetee
recorders played in fast-forward mode, and voclas sent through flangers.
Oh -- and the track listing is inaccurate, no connection to reality
whatsoever.
Yeah. So it sucks, but if you are at all intrigued, ask me, I'll lend it
to you.
Oh -- and if anyone bought _Honky_, lemme know, cause I think I am a little
scared of buying any more Melvins records for the next while.
