Monday Night

On Monday night Patrick and I went over to Gino and Bears - the local dive bar in Albany. On the way we stopped at McDonalds and ate a "Big and Tasty." It was unremarkable. Though, the experience at McDonalds was an interesting one.

The woman who took our order had just had some sort of hot-food-related injury and had her hand jammed in a cup of ice. She painstakingly assembled our order with one hand, she rang us up with one hand, and gave us our change with one hand. When Patrick asked her what happened, she said:

"It's a burn. A Burn. A BURN."

Nice.

My sandwich was served without tomato, which pissed me off as it was likely to be the only nutritional aspect of my meal. I returned to the burn victim and said, "This doesn't have any tomato."

"Well, does it have bacon and cheese."

"No." Looking up at the picture I noticed that it didn't have bacon and cheese, but did have tomato pictured. "Is it supposed to have bacon and cheese?"

"Well that's the way you ordered it." said the burn victim.

"Well, then I guess it's just totally wrong, then."

She handed me a new sandwich with the tomato and no bacon or cheese.

Anyway, we headed off to Gino and Bears and played some dice. Patrick is perennially into me for fifty or so bucks. We played a few hands, him gaining, me catching back up. And then we played some pool.

Patrick and I aren't very good, and between the two of us Patrick is the guy who can actually make shots that he tries for. We played for a while and then Kate, Patrick's wife showed up. We chatted and played some more pool, and then it happened.

The illness that is the result of eating a BIG AND TASTY. FAT AND GASSY is more like it.

I went home, went to bed, and woke up feeling slightly ill.

No moral, although I think I'll shy away from bad beef sandwiches for a while.
