Kayaking on the Green River
My brother-in-law, Blaine, has invited me on yet another trip:
T. Jay and Jenny,
I am planning a kayak trip down a remote section of the Green River in Utah in July. Steep rocky canyons, eagles, artifacts, end up in Moab, frosty beverages, major roast beast feast every night.
You come! You get new indian name!
Blaine
My response was this:
Is it possible that I could die? If not, can I hurt my knee?
If so, I'm in.
t. jay
His response to me was:
Forms of death you might encounter:
- Snake bite - swelling, extreme thirst, pain, delerium
- Falling off a cliff - impact wounds, contusions, impaling, nasty scrapes
- Eating a poison root or berry - see death by snake bite
- Capsizing and drowning - shortness of breath followed by inhaling of water - see "Perfect Storm"
- Starving - odd eouphoria, delerium, stomach discomfort, oily discharge
- Pissing off an indian and being staked to an ant pile - constant but mild irritation at first, followed by inhaling of biting ants, throat and nose discomfort as those little shits sting you all the way down your throatbefore being consumed by your stomach acids.
Other than these likley possibilities, there is no real danger to speak of.
Blaine
I'm definitely in. Man oh man.
