Sorry for the delay in responding. I took a few weeks off from work and went to the woods, the desert, the mountains and bought a gold mine.

It was nice. I am exhausted and bruised. But I think the wilderness is worth it.

And yet, I still have twenty days of vacation, three of which I need to take before January.

I'm thinking of making a drastic life-change. I'm thinking of buying a house in a small city or small mountain town, leaving this industry and working at a record store.

I want to live in a place where I can walk outside at night and hear birds and see stars. I want to smell pine and see leaves change colors. I want a fireplace. I want running water in a river or a creek.

Jenny and I came to Minneapolis to see the state fair and visit a few friends. I just showed up and didn't call anyone, and those who I could get a hold of I did, and those, like you and Carrie Dutcher, I didn't.

I stayed in a bed and breakfast on DuPont, and drank Summit, and walked around on the indian mounds, and walked across the stone arch bridge and hung out with eric (which was so good) and saw cubby, and drank with mike and did a lot of thinking.

An earthquake is really violent, and I look back at the last few years of my life and I think that the life I have lead is like that of a city after an earthquake. It's been needing some repairs and some retro fitting and some rebuilding. One thing it isn't, is the past.

That's good, isn't it?
