hello-

I am a voyeur. I like the ability to read about people, and create the one dimensional to two dimensional portrait of a three dimensional being that lives across the country or across the world. I read the same journals that you read, written by the people who read your journal. It's easy to piece together the world that way - even if it is a sliver of the real world (a billion people each in China and India - and no participants in the world I have mapped in my mind).

I usually like to keep it a voyeuristic activity. By inserting myself, I guess I feel like I might taint the sample, or add some element that might make my observation a little less "scientific." Today I break that rule.

I love Husker Du. Have for 15 years. I saw their last "all ages" show. I grew up in Minneapolis, and along with the "ooh yah's" and "don'tchaknows" Husker Du was as prevalent as the fluoride in the city drinking water.

Find yourself a good Minneapolis man (or Woman), and you'll get a Husker Du fan. My fiance (I got engaged last week in Amsterdam) "appreciates" Husker Du, but what she may never know is how much a trio of guys could shape a suburban teenage boy's life.

Maybe she's the better for it.
